Who We Are

Pangea Printing ("we," "us," "our") is a 3D printing service based in Chicagoland. We operate the website at pangeaprinting.com and provide 3D printing services to consumers and businesses. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and services.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you submit an order or inquiry through our website:

We also automatically collect:

Education Path (Student Submissions): When a student submits a file through the Education path, we collect only their first name (as voluntarily entered), the teacher-issued class code, and the uploaded 3D file. We do not collect any additional personal information from students. See the Children's Privacy section below for full details.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or profiling. We do not send promotional emails unless you explicitly request them.

How We Store Your Information

Your information is stored using the following services:

Who We Share Your Information With

We share your information only with the following parties, and only as necessary to fulfill your order:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms. We do not use your data for profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond fulfilling your order and operating our service.

File Handling & Confidentiality

Files uploaded to our service are stored in access-controlled folders within our internal systems and are accessible to team members involved in fulfilling your order. However, we do not guarantee confidentiality for files submitted without a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). By uploading files without an NDA in place, you acknowledge and accept the risk that Pangea Printing is not liable for any unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of those files.

If your files contain proprietary designs, trade secrets, or sensitive intellectual property, we strongly recommend requesting an NDA before submitting any materials. Business clients can indicate this need during the inquiry process. Files submitted under an executed NDA are treated as confidential and are not shared with any third party.

Data Retention

We retain your order information and files for as long as necessary to fulfill your order and provide post-delivery support. Typically, order records are kept for up to 12 months after order completion. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@pangeaprinting.com.

Education / Student Data: Student first names, uploaded files, and associated order records from the Education Services are deleted from our active systems within 90 days of the associated class order being completed. Uploaded student files are deleted from cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) within 90 days of upload. Schools may request earlier deletion by providing the class code to hello@pangeaprinting.com.

Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data. GA4 sets cookies on your browser (including _ga and _ga_* cookies) to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies contain randomly generated IDs, not your name, email, or other personal information.

We do not use any other tracking scripts, advertising pixels, retargeting cookies, or social media trackers. We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or any advertising platform.

How to opt out of Google Analytics: you can prevent GA4 from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, using your browser's built-in "Do Not Track" setting, or using a browser extension that blocks tracking scripts. Opting out does not affect your ability to use our website or place orders.

Standard server logs maintained by Netlify may also record your IP address and browser information as part of normal web operations.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

Children's Privacy

Pangea Printing is committed to protecting the privacy of children. Our general consumer services welcome orders placed by parents and guardians on behalf of their children — for example, a parent ordering a toy or model their child found online. In these cases, the parent or guardian is the customer of record and submits their own contact information. We do not collect the child's name, email, or any other personal information through the consumer order path. The child is the beneficiary of the order, not a data subject.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through any part of our website. Minors under 18 are not permitted to submit orders independently — a parent or guardian must place the order on their behalf. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us directly, contact us immediately at hello@pangeaprinting.com and we will promptly investigate and delete any such information.

Education Services — What We Collect From Students

When a student uses the Education path to submit a 3D file for printing, we collect only: (a) the student's first name as voluntarily entered; (b) the class code provided by their teacher; and (c) the 3D model file uploaded. We do not collect student last names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, student ID numbers, grade levels, school schedules, or any other personally identifiable information beyond what is listed above.

How We Use Student Information

Student information is used for one purpose only: fulfilling the print order associated with the student's class. We do not use student data for advertising, marketing, behavioral tracking, profiling, or any commercial purpose. We do not create profiles of students, track students across sessions or devices, or share student information with advertisers or data brokers under any circumstances.

COPPA — School Operator Exception

For the Education Services, Pangea Printing operates under the School Operator exception to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 16 C.F.R. § 312.5(b)(1). Under this exception, schools may consent to the collection of personal information from students on behalf of parents, provided the operator uses that information solely for educational purposes and no other commercial purpose. Pangea Printing complies with these requirements: student data is used exclusively for order fulfillment and is never monetized, shared, or used for any secondary purpose.

School Operators who generate a class code on our platform represent that they have provided appropriate parental notice and obtained required consents consistent with COPPA's school operator exception and applicable state law.

Illinois SOPPA Compliance

Pangea Printing is based in Illinois and is aware of its obligations under the Illinois Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA), 105 ILCS 85. With respect to covered information from students in Illinois, Pangea Printing: (a) does not use covered information to target advertising to students; (b) does not build profiles of students except as necessary to fulfill the print order; (c) does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose student data to any third party for commercial purposes; (d) does not use covered information for any purpose other than providing the Education Services; and (e) supports schools' ability to request deletion of student information associated with their class code at any time.

Illinois school operators requiring a written SOPPA-compliant agreement before using our Education Services should contact us at hello@pangeaprinting.com prior to student participation.

FERPA

To the extent a school shares student education records with Pangea Printing in connection with the Education Services, we treat such records as confidential, use them only for order fulfillment, do not re-disclose them to third parties without school consent, and maintain reasonable security safeguards. We support schools' FERPA compliance obligations and will cooperate with deletion requests for student education records upon request.

Student Data Retention

Student first names and associated order records are deleted from our active systems within 90 days of the class order being marked complete. Student-uploaded 3D files are deleted from our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) within 90 days of upload. Schools may request earlier deletion of student data by emailing hello@pangeaprinting.com with the class code and approximate date of submission.

Requests Regarding Student Data

Schools, parents, or guardians may submit requests to review, correct, or delete student information associated with a class code by contacting us at hello@pangeaprinting.com. Please include the class code and student's first name in your request. We will respond within 10 business days.

Our website may reference or link to third-party websites and platforms, including MakerWorld, Thingiverse, Printables, TinkerCAD, and others. These sites have their own privacy policies and data practices that are not controlled by Pangea Printing. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will notify affected customers as required by Illinois law (815 ILCS 530) and any other applicable state laws. Notification will be made via email to the address associated with your order, as promptly as possible and without unreasonable delay.

Governing Law

This privacy policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be resolved in the courts of DuPage County, Illinois.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. These include the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to request deletion of your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Pangea Printing does not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not share personal information with third parties for their independent marketing or advertising purposes. To exercise any CCPA rights, contact us at hello@pangeaprinting.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days as required by law. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
