Terms of Service

Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website at pangeaprinting.com or submitting an order or inquiry through our forms, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our services. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Customer," "you") and Pangea Printing ("we," "us," "our"), a business operating in Chicagoland (Illinois). By submitting an order, inquiry, or request through our website, you acknowledge and agree that your electronic submission constitutes a legally binding acceptance of these Terms in the same manner as a physical signature, in accordance with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Sign Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7001) and the Illinois Electronic Commerce Security Act (5 ILCS 175).

2. Services

Pangea Printing provides additive manufacturing (3D printing) services using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology. Our services include printing customer-supplied 3D model files, providing quotes for printing projects, and consulting on product development and prototyping for business clients.

All orders are subject to review and acceptance by our team. We reserve the right to decline any order for any reason, including but not limited to technical infeasibility, material limitations, or concerns about the nature of the requested print.

3. Intellectual Property & File Ownership

Pangea Printing is a manufacturing service. We operate as a 3D printing service bureau. When you submit a file or link, we manufacture a physical object from your instructions. We are not the creator, publisher, distributor, or seller of any design. We do not curate, recommend, or endorse any 3D model or design file. The relationship between you and Pangea Printing is that of a customer and a contract manufacturer.

Your files remain yours. By uploading files to our service, you retain full ownership of your 3D models, designs, and intellectual property. We do not claim any ownership, license, or rights to your files beyond what is necessary to fulfill your order.

Limited use license. By submitting files, you grant Pangea Printing a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access, store, and reproduce your files solely for the purpose of fulfilling your order. This license terminates upon completion or cancellation of your order, subject to our data retention policy.

Your responsibility. You represent and warrant that:

Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pangea Printing, its owners, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from intellectual property disputes related to files you submit. As a manufacturing service, we do not and cannot verify the intellectual property status, licensing terms, or ownership of submitted files. We rely entirely on your representations above.

4. DMCA & Intellectual Property Complaints

Pangea Printing respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that a 3D model or design being printed through our service infringes on your copyright or other intellectual property rights, you may submit a takedown notice.

How to submit a notice. Use our IP takedown form to submit a structured notice with all required information. Alternatively, you may send a written notice to hello@pangeaprinting.com with the subject line "IP Takedown Notice" that includes:

What we will do. Upon receiving a valid takedown notice, we will promptly review the claim and, if appropriate, cancel or suspend any active orders involving the identified material. We will notify the customer who submitted the file of the claim. We will not share the claimant's personal information with the customer without consent, unless required by law.

Counter-notice. If you receive a takedown notification and believe your use of the material is lawful (for example, because you hold a valid license or the material is not protected), you may submit a counter-notice to hello@pangeaprinting.com with your contact information, a description of the material, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.

Repeat infringers. We reserve the right to refuse service to any customer who is the subject of repeated valid intellectual property complaints.

Designated agent. Our designated agent for receiving intellectual property complaints is reachable at hello@pangeaprinting.com.

5. Prohibited Items

We reserve the right to refuse any order that, in our sole judgment, involves:

Customer Representation. Submitting a file to Pangea Printing constitutes your representation that your order does not fall into any prohibited category above. If you are unsure whether your design is subject to export controls or other regulatory requirements, consult a qualified professional before submitting.

If we identify a prohibited item after an order has been placed, we will cancel the order and issue a full refund of any payment received.

6. Pricing, Quotes & Payment

Estimates. Price estimates shown on our website are approximate ranges based on the size tier, material, and turnaround you select. These estimates are not final quotes. Final pricing is determined by our team after reviewing your file and confirming the actual print specifications (weight, support requirements, complexity).

Quotes. After review, we will send you a finalized quote via email with a payment link. Quotes are valid for 14 days from the date issued unless otherwise stated. If you do not pay within this period, the quote may need to be re-issued and pricing may change.

Payment. Payment is processed through Square, a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. We accept major credit and debit cards. Full payment is required before production begins. We do not store your credit card or bank account information. Square processes your payment data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy.

Taxes. Prices do not include applicable taxes. Sales tax will be applied where required by Illinois or other applicable state law.

Business & Purchase Order Accounts. Qualified business customers with orders totaling $500 or more may request Net 30 payment terms. To request Net 30 terms, contact us at hello@pangeaprinting.com before placing your order. Orders below $500 require payment in full before production begins. Net 30 approval is at our discretion and may be revoked at any time. Invoices not paid within 30 days of the invoice date are subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month (18% per annum) on the outstanding balance, or the maximum rate permitted by Illinois law, whichever is lower. We accept standard purchase orders; the PO number must be provided before order confirmation and will appear on all invoices. Issuance of a PO does not guarantee order acceptance — orders are confirmed only upon our written acknowledgment. We reserve the right to require advance payment for new accounts, large-volume orders, or accounts with a history of late payment.

7. Order Process & Timelines

Our order process follows these steps:

  1. You submit your file(s) and specifications through our website
  2. Our team reviews your file within 48 hours and sends you a finalized quote
  3. You review the quote and submit payment
  4. Your order enters our production queue
  5. We print, inspect, and ship your order

Turnaround times (Standard: 7–10 business days, Priority: 4–6 business days, Rush: 2–3 business days) begin after payment is received, not after order submission. Turnaround times are estimates and not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to production volume, material availability, equipment maintenance, or quality control requirements. We will notify you if a significant delay is expected.

8. Shipping

All Standard orders include free standard shipping within the continental United States. Priority and Rush turnaround tiers include upgraded shipping at an additional cost, which is reflected in your quote. The shipping method is determined by the turnaround tier you select: Standard orders ship via USPS Ground Advantage or UPS/FedEx Ground, Priority orders ship via USPS Priority Mail or UPS/FedEx 2-Day, and Rush orders ship via USPS Priority Mail Express or UPS/FedEx Overnight. Carrier selection is at our discretion based on package dimensions, weight, and destination.

Once a package is handed off to the shipping carrier, the shipment is in the carrier's hands. If your tracking shows delivered but you did not receive the package, or if the shipment is lost in transit, you will need to file a claim directly with the carrier. We will provide tracking information and any documentation needed from our end, but delivery disputes are handled between you and the shipping carrier.

9. Quality, Defects & Reprints

We inspect every print before shipping. However, FDM 3D printing is an inherently imperfect process. You should expect:

Defect policy. If your print has a genuine manufacturing defect (incorrect material, wrong color, structural failure, significant dimensional error, or damage during handling), contact us within 14 days of delivery at hello@pangeaprinting.com with your order number and photos of the issue. Claims must be submitted after the day of delivery but no later than 14 days after delivery. We will, at our discretion, reprint the item at no charge or issue a partial or full refund.

Not covered: Layer lines, minor surface imperfections, slight color variation between batches, and issues resulting from design flaws in the customer's file are not considered defects.

10. Refunds & Cancellations

Before payment: You may cancel your order at any time before submitting payment at no cost. Simply reply to our quote email or contact us.

After payment, before production: If your order has not yet entered the production queue, you may request a full refund. Contact us as soon as possible.

During or after production: Once printing has begun, cancellations are not possible. Completed orders that have shipped are not eligible for cancellation. If there are extenuating circumstances, contact us and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis.

What we WILL fix or refund: If we made the error and printed the wrong material, used the wrong color, produced a print with structural defects caused by our equipment or process, or printed at dimensions significantly different from what was agreed upon in the quote, we will reprint the order at no charge or issue a full refund at our discretion. Contact us within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photos. Claims must be submitted after the day of delivery.

What we will NOT refund: Pangea Printing is not responsible for issues caused by the customer's choices. This includes but is not limited to:

By placing an order, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the files you submit and the options you select. Our print masters optimize print settings for quality, but we do not redesign or fix flawed models unless specifically arranged as part of a business engagement.

Refund method: Approved refunds are processed through Square to the original payment method. Please allow 5–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.

11. Limitation of Liability

FDM prints are not certified for safety-critical applications. 3D printed parts produced by Pangea Printing are not intended for use in applications where failure could result in personal injury, death, or significant property damage. This includes but is not limited to: load-bearing structural components, medical devices or implants, automotive safety parts, pressurized containers, and components exposed to extreme heat or stress beyond the material's rated specifications.

Disclaimer of Warranties. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PANGEA PRINTING PROVIDES ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT UNDER THE UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE AND ANY OTHER APPLICABLE LAW.

No warranty of fitness. We make no warranty that printed parts will be suitable for any particular purpose. You are solely responsible for determining whether a 3D printed part is appropriate for your intended use, including conducting your own testing for strength, heat resistance, chemical resistance, food safety, and any other properties relevant to your application.

Maximum liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pangea Printing's total liability to you for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific order giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption.

Customer Responsibility for Design Accuracy. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, functionality, and fitness-for-purpose of any design file you submit. Pangea Printing manufactures exactly what your file specifies. We do not review files for structural soundness, mechanical performance, dimensional accuracy relative to an external specification, or fitness for intended use. If your design contains errors — including incorrect dimensions, insufficient wall thickness, unsupported geometry, or design choices that prevent the part from functioning as intended — these are not manufacturing defects and do not qualify for a refund or reprint.

No Professional Advice. Nothing on our website or in any communication from Pangea Printing constitutes engineering, medical, structural, regulatory, or professional advice of any kind. We do not advise on material suitability for specific applications or end uses. Always consult a qualified professional before relying on a 3D-printed part in any application where safety, health, or regulatory compliance is a concern.

12. File Handling & Confidentiality

General file handling. Files uploaded to Pangea Printing are stored in our internal systems for the purpose of fulfilling your order. While we take reasonable measures to secure our systems, we make no guarantee of confidentiality for files submitted without a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). By uploading files to our service, you acknowledge that Pangea Printing is not responsible for any unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of files submitted without an NDA in place. If the confidentiality of your files is important to you, you must request an NDA before submitting any sensitive materials.

Business clients with NDA. For business clients who execute a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement with Pangea Printing, files and project details submitted under that NDA are treated as confidential. Access is restricted to team members directly involved in fulfilling the project, and files will not be shared with any third party. NDA protections apply only to materials submitted after the NDA is fully executed by both parties.

File retention. We retain uploaded files for up to 12 months after order completion to support post-delivery inquiries and reprints. Files submitted without an NDA may be deleted at any time at our discretion. You may request deletion of your files at any time by emailing hello@pangeaprinting.com.

13. Data & Privacy

We collect and use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service by reference. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, and particularly of students and minors. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes under any circumstances.

14. Acceptable Use

Age Requirement & Ordering on Behalf of Minors. Our general consumer and business services are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years of age. By submitting an order or inquiry, you represent that you are 18 or older, or that you are a parent or legal guardian submitting the order on behalf of a minor in your care.

Parents and guardians are welcome to order prints for their children — including models found on MakerWorld, Thingiverse, Printables, or similar platforms — provided the files comply with our Acceptable Use policy and all applicable intellectual property terms. When a parent or guardian places an order on behalf of a minor, the parent or guardian is the customer of record. We collect the parent's or guardian's contact information, not the child's. The child's personal information is not submitted to or stored by Pangea Printing.

Minors under 18 may not submit orders independently through our website. Students under 13 may only use our Education Services through an authorized School Operator as described in Section 19.

You agree not to use our services to:

15. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from these Terms of Service or our services shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at hello@pangeaprinting.com. Please give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue before initiating any formal proceeding. If informal resolution is not successful within 30 days, either party may pursue resolution through the courts of DuPage County, Illinois. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Chargeback Policy. Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer, you agree to contact us first at hello@pangeaprinting.com and allow us 5 business days to resolve the issue. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us constitutes a breach of these Terms. We reserve the right to dispute any chargeback we believe to be filed in bad faith, and to provide transaction records, order documentation, and shipping confirmations to the card issuer in our defense.

Class Action Waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only, and not as part of a class, collective, or representative action. You waive any right to participate as a class representative or class member in any class action proceeding against Pangea Printing.

16. Force Majeure

Pangea Printing shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms arising from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, natural disasters, severe weather, fire, floods, power outages, filament or material supply shortages, equipment failures, carrier delays, labor disputes, pandemics, government orders, or internet or telecommunications outages. In such events, we will notify you as promptly as reasonably practicable and provide an updated timeline or, if fulfillment is not possible, a full refund of any amounts paid for the affected order.

17. Termination

We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel orders, or terminate access to our services at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, abusive conduct, or orders that we are unable to fulfill. If we cancel an order before production begins, you will receive a full refund. If production has already begun, refund terms are as described in our Refund Policy. For business accounts extended Net 30 terms, termination does not waive any outstanding payment obligations — amounts already invoiced remain due and payable per the original invoice terms.

18. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to customers with active orders.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

19a. Non-Waiver

No failure or delay by Pangea Printing in enforcing any right or provision of these Terms shall be deemed a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver of any right or provision is effective only if made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Pangea Printing. A written waiver of any particular breach does not waive any subsequent breach of the same or any other provision.

19b. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund & Returns Policy, and Shipping Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pangea Printing with respect to our services and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, representations, and agreements, whether oral or written, regarding the same subject matter. No course of dealing, trade usage, or course of performance shall modify or supplement these Terms.

20. File Review and Acceptance

All submitted files are reviewed by our print team before production begins. Pangea Printing reserves the right to decline any order that cannot be reliably printed, including but not limited to files with non-manifold geometry, insufficient wall thickness, unsupported overhangs, corrupt mesh data, or designs that require significant modification before manufacturing.

If your file requires revisions, we will notify you via email with specific findings and recommended changes. You may revise and resubmit your file at no additional cost. If the scope of work requires CAD modifications or design-for-manufacturing consultation beyond our standard print service, we may refer you to our business services for a separate project consultation.

Orders declined due to file issues will not be charged. If payment has already been processed, a full refund will be issued within 5 business days.

File review criteria are applied uniformly to all orders based on objective, technical printability standards. Acceptance decisions are based solely on the submitted file, the selected material, and the capabilities of our production equipment.

21. Education Services & School Operator Responsibilities

Pangea Printing offers a print fulfillment service for educational institutions ("Education Services") that allows teachers and school administrators ("School Operators") to generate class codes and manage student file submissions for printing. By generating a class code or using the Education path of our service, School Operators agree to the following:

Class Code Use is Restricted to Authorized Adults. Class codes may only be requested by adults (18 or older) who are authorized school employees, teachers, administrators, or credentialed educational staff. Class code requests must be submitted using a school, district, or institutional email address. Personal email addresses (such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, and similar consumer email services) are not accepted for class code generation. Use of a school or institutional email address is a condition of using the Education Services and is part of how we verify that class code requestors are associated with an educational institution. Students, minors, and unauthorized individuals are strictly prohibited from generating class codes. Any person who generates a class code by misrepresenting their identity, age, or authorization is in breach of these Terms and assumes full legal responsibility for any consequences arising from that misrepresentation, including any obligations under COPPA, SOPPA, FERPA, or other applicable law. Pangea Printing relies in good faith on the representations made at the time of class code generation and cannot be held liable for harm resulting from a user's deliberate misrepresentation.

21.1 School Operator Role

The School Operator — not Pangea Printing — is the party responsible for: (a) obtaining all required parental or guardian consents for students participating in the service, including any consents required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Illinois Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and any other applicable federal, state, or local law; (b) ensuring students are supervised and that file submissions are appropriate; (c) ensuring their school's applicable policies and data governance requirements are satisfied before using this service.

By generating a class code, the School Operator expressly represents and warrants that they have authority to bind their school or institution to these responsibilities, and that all required consents and approvals are in place.

21.2 What Pangea Collects From Students

Through the Education path, Pangea Printing collects from students only: (a) a first name (as entered voluntarily by the student); (b) the class code provided by their teacher; and (c) the 3D model file the student chooses to upload. We do not collect student last names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, student ID numbers, grade levels, or any other information. We do not create student accounts, track student activity across sessions, or profile students in any way.

21.3 Permitted Use of Student Data

Information collected from students through the Education path is used solely for the purpose of fulfilling the print order associated with that class code. Student data is never used for advertising, behavioral tracking, marketing communications, data brokerage, or any commercial purpose beyond order fulfillment. Student files and associated information are deleted from our active systems within 90 days of the associated class order being marked complete.

21.4 No Independent Use by Students Under 13

Students under the age of 13 may only use the Education path of our service under the direct supervision of and through an authorized School Operator. Students under 13 may not submit files, enter their information, or use our service independently. School Operators are solely responsible for ensuring this requirement is followed.

21.5 School Service Agreement

For schools or districts that require a written data processing agreement, Student Data Privacy Agreement (SDPA), or SOPPA-compliant agreement, please contact us at hello@pangeaprinting.com before using the Education Services. We will work with your institution to execute an appropriate agreement prior to student participation.

21.6 FERPA

Pangea Printing acknowledges that, to the extent any student education records are shared with us by a school in connection with the Education Services, we agree to: (a) use those records solely for the purpose of fulfilling the print order; (b) not re-disclose education records to any third party without the school's written consent; (c) maintain reasonable safeguards to protect the security of education records; and (d) destroy or return education records when they are no longer needed for the order fulfillment purpose.

22. Children's Privacy & COPPA

Our website and general services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information directly from children under 13 through our general consumer or business services. If you believe that a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us outside of the supervised Education path, please contact us immediately at hello@pangeaprinting.com and we will promptly investigate and delete any such information.

For the Education Services, Pangea Printing relies on the School Operator exception under COPPA (16 C.F.R. § 312.5(b)(1)), under which a school may consent to the collection of personal information from students on behalf of parents, provided the information is used solely for an educational purpose and no other commercial purpose. As described in Section 20, we strictly limit our use of student data to fulfilling the class print order. School Operators assume responsibility for providing the required parental notices and for operating within COPPA's school operator exception.

Illinois Schools: Pangea Printing is aware of its obligations under the Illinois Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA), 105 ILCS 85. We do not use covered information from students for advertising, do not build profiles on students for non-educational purposes, and do not sell or rent student data under any circumstances. Illinois school operators requiring a written SOPPA-compliant agreement should contact us before initiating use of our Education Services.
